TCR Spain: 2021-Present

One of many national touring car championships to utilise the TCR regulations debuted by the TCR International Series in 2015, TCR Spain was launched in 2021. These regulations provide a relatively accessible means of racing full-on customer tin-tops, with models available from a wide range of manufacturers.

Launched as part of the Campeonato de España de Turismos (CET), TCR Spain was the first TCR-specific series to launch in the country; though not the first to feature TCR cars as a class. A promising first season in 2021 was followed by a rough 2022 with very few entries, which saw the cancellation of the CET that the series ran alongside.

With the move to a standalone championship format in 2023 came new interest in TCR Spain, and a much healthier field. The final round in particular attracted a very sizeable grid, which hopefully indicates a positive future for the championship after a mixed first few seasons.
