TCR Thailand: 2016-2018

One of many national touring car championships to utilise the TCR regulations debuted by the TCR International Series in 2015, TCR Thailand was launched in 2016. These regulations provide a relatively accessible means of racing full-on customer tin-tops, with models available from a wide range of manufacturers.

Another of the more obscure TCR championships to pop up over the years, TCR Thailand had a fairly short run of three seasons following its introduction in 2016. Perhaps unsurprisingly the series struggled for grid numbers, with no round ever reaching 10 entries.

Arguably TCR Thailand’s main contribution to the world of TCR is that several of its drivers would later go on to race in a variety of TCR events around the world, which does justify the championship’s existence to a degree. It’s certainly understandable however why this series has quickly fallen into obscurity.
