TCR Taiwan: 2022-Present

One of many national touring car championships to utilise the TCR regulations debuted by the TCR International Series in 2015, TCR Taiwan was launched in 2022. These regulations provide a relatively accessible means of racing full-on customer tin-tops, with models available from a wide range of manufacturers.

Probably one of the more niche TCR championships, TCR Taiwan (officially TCR Chinese Taipei) is entirely run at the Lihpao Racing Park. In its first two seasons the series consisted of four rounds with one endurance race each, but for 2024 this changed to a more traditional sprint format with two races per round.

Aside from the charm of its status as a particularly obscure series, TCR Taiwan’s other notable trait is the sheer dominance of the Honda Civic TCR. Across the first two seasons of the championship, the FK7 Civic went undefeated with eight wins from eight races. Of the 24 podium finishes in total, 16 went to FK7 Civic entries. With the FL5 Civic making its series debut in 2024 this is likely to change; though the Honda dominance doesn’t look like it’ll end any time soon.
