TCR Swiss Trophy: 2018

One of many national touring car championships to utilise the TCR regulations debuted by the TCR International Series in 2015, the TCR Swiss Trophy was launched in 2018. These regulations provide a relatively accessible means of racing full-on customer tin-tops, with models available from a wide range of manufacturers.

An odd part of TCR history, the TCR Swiss Trophy was contested for a single season. This wasn’t a standalone championship, rather an additional trophy awarded based on the results of selected rounds from TCR Europe, TCR Italy, and TCR Germany.

Aside from being handed out by Automobile Sport Switzerland, there wasn’t a whole lot about the trophy that made it Swiss. Plans were in place to award the trophy again in 2019 as part of TCR Germany - this time restricted solely to Swiss drivers in the series - but a lack of interest saw this shelved. There were also plans for a Swiss hillclimb series for TCR cars, but these also fell through.
