TCR Russia: 2015-Present

One of many national touring car championships to utilise the TCR regulations debuted by the TCR International Series in 2015, TCR Russia was also launched in 2015. These regulations provide a relatively accessible means of racing full-on customer tin-tops, with models available from a wide range of manufacturers.

Having launched the same year as the TCR International Series, TCR Russia is one of the longest running TCR championships in the world. Throughout its run the series has enjoyed strong entry numbers on the most part, however a variety of factors have led to declining fields in recent years.

TCR Russia is run as part of the Russian Circuit Racing Series, which features a variety of primarily touring car categories. Perhaps the most interesting aspect of TCR Russia is Lada’s involvement, as their TCR cars have very rarely competed outside of their homeland.

Three iterations of Lada TCR car have competed in TCR Russia, running as what is effectively a factory team against a variety of independent teams. Despite Lada’s presence, independent driver Dmitry Bragin has largely dominated the championship; claiming four consecutive titles between 2016 and 2019, before adding another pair in 2022 and 2023.
