TCR Denmark: 2020-Present

One of many national touring car championships to utilise the TCR regulations debuted by the TCR International Series in 2015, TCR Denmark was launched in 2020. These regulations provide a relatively accessible means of racing full-on customer tin-tops, with models available from a wide range of manufacturers.

The launch of TCR Denmark marked the country’s first top-flight touring car series since the demise of the Danish Touringcar Championship. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the inaugural season had a slightly unusual calendar, with the bulk of the races held at the same circuit.

Despite the obvious challenges, the series still attracted a reasonable grid for its debut campaign. The grid grew for the championship’s second season, and since then the series has consistently attracted strong fields of around 20 cars. Kasper Jensen has dominated the championship so far, claiming a remarkable four drivers’ crowns in four seasons. These titles haven’t come easily though, with several other front-runners keeping Jensen on his toes and ensuring exciting title fights.

Perhaps unexpectedly, TCR Denmark has developed into one of the best national TCR championships in Europe. Many of the drivers who debuted in the first couple of years have stuck around for future seasons too, which has helped maintain a high quality, competitive field in addition to having healthy numbers.
