TCR Brasil: 2023-Present
One of many national touring car championships to utilise the TCR regulations debuted by the TCR International Series in 2015, TCR Brasil was launched in 2023. These regulations provide a relatively accessible means of racing full-on customer tin-tops, with models available from a wide range of manufacturers.
Running as part of the TCR South America series, TCR Brasil in 2023 consisted of largely the same field as the main championship. Aside from a couple of standalone races, the rest of the rounds were part of the TCR South America calendar too, so it acted more like an additional trophy within that series than its own championship.
That did at least mean TCR Brasil benefited from the close-fought nature of TCR South America; the top three in the TCR Brasil standings come the end of the season were separated by just three points. Whether TCR Brasil will continue to be part of TCR South America in future, or perhaps branch off into its own standalone championship, remains to be seen.
