TCR Australia: 2019-Present

One of many national touring car championships to utilise the TCR regulations debuted by the TCR International Series in 2015, TCR Australia was launched in 2019. These regulations provide a relatively accessible means of racing full-on customer tin-tops, with models available from a wide range of manufacturers.

Plenty of talent was attracted to TCR Australia from the start, with several Supercars teams running entries in the series. Behind the wheel, there was a mix of young upcoming talent along with past and present Supercars drivers, plus some one-off entries from established international TCR stars. Even the car variety was strong, as a few of the more left-field cars contested the debut season.

For 2020 the championship took a break due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but returned again for the 2021 season. TCR Australia continues to enjoy good grid sizes and an interesting selection of cars. While Supercars might be the headline tin-top series in the country, TCR Australia has established itself as another high-quality championship down under.
