TCR Asia Challenge: 2022-Present

A single weekend event launched in 2022, the TCR Asia Challenge was introduced to serve as the Macau Guia Race for that season. Two races were held, but there was no points system: these were effectively standalone races in a similar vein to how the Guia Race had been run prior to its incorporation as part of the WTCC.

The field effectively entirely consisted of local drivers, which allowed Filipe de Souza to become the first Macanese driver to claim victory in the event. Even with the lack of overseas drivers, the weekend drew a solid 20+ car entry list with a decent variety of TCR cars represented.

For 2023 the Guia Race became part of the TCR World Tour, however the TCR Asia Challenge remained. Now it acted as something of a qualifier event: local drivers contested the TCR Asia Challenge, which featured two races with a points system this time. The top eight finishers in the standings would then receive an entry for the Guia Race itself the week after.

Lo Sze Ho was the winner, taking victory in the opener and third place in the second race. The format seemed to be fairly successful, as it allowed the local drivers to have their moment in the spotlight while also getting the chance to take on some of the best international touring car drivers around.
