TC America: 2019-Present

Run by the SRO Motorsports Group, better associated with GT competition, TC America is effectively the second tier touring car series in the US at the moment. The championship has previously featured multiple classes of varying performance levels, but now consists of a single class.

Previously the home of TCR competition in the US, TC America has subsequently focused on developing its own regulations. Previously there was TCX and TCA - the top and bottom classes respectively - with these classes consisting of a mix of existing one-make cup cars and specially designed machinery.

The sole remaining class is TC, which previously occupied the space between TCX and TCA. Aside from BMW cup cars and the Hyundai Elantra N1 - based on the one-make racer used in South Korea - the class has seen a variety of unique entries. A mix of front, rear, and even all-wheel drive cars have raced in the class, which is highly unusual in modern motorsport.

Having enjoyed fairly large fields at points, TC America currently finds itself with fairly small grids of just over 10 cars for most events. It's a little unfortunate there hasn't been more uptake since the move to a single class structure, as the TC-spec cars are genuinely quite interesting. In an era where TCR dominates the touring car landscape, any series which tries something a bit different is worth taking an interest in.
