Polo Cup Germany: 2026-Present

New for the 2026 season, the DMV Polo Cup Germany is the sort of one-make series we don't see all that often nowadays. Manufacturer backing with a modern up-to-date car, prize money, a solid number of drivers, reasonable running costs, and performance that slots in nicely below 'full-fat' TCR touring cars.

What makes the series slightly unusual however is its origin; not a product of Volkswagen in Germany, but designed and developed by the brand's South African arm. Volkswagen is fairly heavily involved in racing in South Africa, but to develop a series and then run it on another continent is an odd one!

Regardless, it's undeniable the Polo GTi Cup Car looks the part and has succeeded in attracting interest from drivers. Reminiscent of the UK's Mini Challenge JCW class in some ways, it's always good to see more one-make championships in this mould. Additionally a Benelux counterpart is planned to launch in 2027, using the same car. Hopefully the Polo Cup can establish itself further as part of the touring car landscape.
